The study is part of a larger project of AKTIV under the title “Single market Kosovo”, which aims at creating an integrated market economy in the whole area of Kosovo by fostering business links between enterprises and between enterprises and institutions in the whole area of Kosovo
Description:
The study was conducted by the NGO AKTIV, located in Mitrovica-North, with financial support of the British Embassy and technical support of the GIZ project “Enhancement of Competitiveness of the Private Sector”. The study is part of a larger project of AKTIV under the title “Single market Kosovo”, which aims at creating an integrated market economy in the whole area of Kosovo by fostering business links between enterprises and between enterprises and institutions in the whole area of Kosovo. The underlying assumption is, that the strive for economic benefit is the most pragmatical connector and can be utilized to reestablish cooperation.
The study is based on a survey with more than 330 enterprises with an estimated coverage rate of private sector jobs in the north of 68%.
The study reveals so far unknown information on the economic structure of the municipalities in the North, the economic situation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), their development over the recent years and their perspectives and aspirations for the future. In the end, a set of recommendations on the policy, institutional and company level are developed, which will serve us and others as hints for future interventions.
