Description:

Mitrovica has a fragile social-political situation in which youth lacks knowledge, awareness and participation in a democratic system. In this context, this project focuses on improving the participation of youth of Mitrovica in supporting human rights and democracy. The objectives of this project are (1) increasing knowledge about democracy and human rights, (2) mobilizing and organizing youth and (3) increasing access to information.

Phases of activities:

-      Formation of project team and youth assessment. 200 youth will be interviewed about their knowledge on democracy and human rights to determine the level of the training courses.

-      Preparing and conducting training program. 50-100 youth (aged 16-29) will participate. The topics will be peace and reconciliation, democracy and its historical development, citizenship and protection of human rights and civil society development. Each workshop includes discussion, designing a questionnaire and conduction interviews with relevant stakeholders.

-      Network, event and training handbook.  At the end of the trainings, an event (music performance and presentations about trainings) is organized to promote democracy and human rights. Also, participants will form a network which will be used for mobilization and sharing information. The results of the trainings will be put in a handbook which can be used for future trainings. During the whole project, media is approached to increase the visibility of the project.
